Scope of Works

This Project consists of 2 areas

1) Subsidized Sale Flats Development at Ma On Shan Road

• The construction of 72 nos. of large diameter bored piles and associated pile cap works for 5 domestic blocks, 102 nos. of socketed steel H-piles and associated pile cap works for Commercial and Recreational Block, 166 nos. of soldier pile retaining structure and landscape works.
• This project comprises of 2,069 domestic flats and facilities nearby and is scheduled to be completed by 2022.

2) Public Rental Housing Development at Hang Tai Road

• The construction of 244 nos. of socketed steel H-piles and associated pile cap works for Retail and Welfare Block, 59 nos. of socketed steel H-piles and associated pile cap works for footbridge, new basketball court and temporary carpark, demolition of existing basketball court, addition and alternation of an existing carpark and landscape works.
• This project would enhance the existing facilities and provide new facilities nearby and is scheduled to be completed by 2023.

Scope of Works

• Foundation Works consists of 28 nos. oflarge diameter and bearing bored pile (mainly 3.2m in diameter), 159 nos. ofpre-bored socketed steel H-pile, 61 nos. of mini pile for foundation work and pile caps for 5 blocks of residential buildings plus a podium area.
• Site formation works with 156 nos. of soldier piles (813mm & 610mm diameter.);
• Excavation and lateral supporting works with 560 nos. ofpipe pile, 50 nos. ofsheet pile & total excavation volume of 80,000 m3; and
• Permanent drainage diversion works.

Project highlights:

• Within MTR Railway Protection Zone
  
  • Closest piling works adjacent to MTR structure is within 6m from the Railway Protection Zone;
  • The site embracing part of the Ho Man Tin MTR Station plus 2 nos. pedestrian subways;
  • The Shatin-Central Link Tunnel running live beneath the site;
  • Site works carried out on sloping ground with approximately 20m level difference from the highest street level to Ho Man Tin MTR Station.
• Wide range of piling works including bored pile, socketed H-pile, mini pile, soldier pile and sheet pile.
• Contractor to design the Foundation, Site Formation, Excavation & Lateral Support and Temporary Works.

Sky Bridge Connecting Terminal 1 with North Satellite Concourse - Bored Piling Works

Scope of Works

• The Site is separately located at boarding Gate N12 and boarding Gate N507, which are at Terminal 1 and North Satellite Concourse of the Hong Kong International Airport respectively.
• The Site is located within Airside Restricted Area (ARA).
• The Site consists of 18 nos. of 2.5m diameter bored piles, which are the foundations of the main bridge of the Sky Bridge.
• The Works shall be carried out under a live airport operating environment. The operation of the taxilane B7 shall be maintained at all times during the construction period.
• The Works shall be carried out under a live operating environment for the nearby boarding Gate N24 and avoid disruption to its operation. Moreover, there should be at least 7.5m clearance between the Works area and the aircraft parking at boarding Gate N24.
• The Airport Height Restriction (AHR) of the Site is +53mPD, which has a clearance of 46m to the ground level of the Site area, therefore the jib length of the crawler crane is limited.
• All site personnel and vehicles entering the Site are required to obtain ARA permits.
• As there is limited working space within the Site, the duration of the Works is comparatively short and drilling to Grade II rock is required for most of the piles. Drilling is also required to sandwiched Grades of rock. Therefore, a Construction Noise Permit was obtained from EPD for 24-hours, daily non-stop working.

Scope of Works

This Project consists of 2 areas

1) Public Rental Housing located at TM54 Area 1 & 1A

• The construction of 99 nos. of large diameter bored piles and associated pile cap works for 4 domestic blocks, 99 nos. of socketed steel H-piles and associated pile cap works for retail block, & demolish 6 nos. of trees.
• This project consists of 4,300 domestic flats and facilities nearby and is scheduled to be completed by 2022.

 

2) Demolition for Ex-HKCSC’s Association Cheung Chui Cheong Memorial Primary School at Cheung Ching Estate, Tsang Yi

• Demolish a 7-storey high primary school by adopting crusher method (i.e. a quieter method) for taking down the main building also with footing removal and clearing 156 nos. of trees.
• The school was surrounded by 2 housing buildings and a primary school. Appreciation letters were received from the neighborhood.
• This project consists of 260 domestic flats and facilities nearby and is scheduled to be completed by 2023.

Scope of Works

• The Site is situated at Chuen On Road, Tai Po and nearby Tai Po Hospital.
• Site area is about 71,312 m²
• The Site is located on a slope and the level difference is about 50m.
• This project involves site formation, foundation and road & drain works. Different kinds of works are being constructed concurrently, and therefore, the programme is extremely tight.
• Site formation works involves over 300,000 m³ of soil and rock.
• Construct the foundation for 8 domestic blocks including 134 nos. of bored piles, pile caps and footings.
• Construct the foundation for Refuse Collection Point and Elevated Covered Pedestrian Walkway including 126 nos. of 610mm diameter socketed H-Pile.
• Construct 16 nos. retaining walls of approximately 955m in length and 11 nos. slopes.
• Construct a 460m long carriageway linking the new public rental housing and Chuen On Road, and lay associated underground drains and water mains connecting to the external public systems.
• This Public Rental Housing Development will provide about 6,420 domestic flats and associated facilities, and will be completed in 2023.

Scope of Works

Foundation Works consists of the following

• Marine Pile – 14 nos. of 2.2m large diameter bored pile
• Land Pile - 50 nos. of large bored pile ranging from 2m to 3m in diameter.

 

Project highlights

The project is mainly to construct Land and Marine Bored Piles. Land Piles are at Lam Tin area and Marine Piles are at Tseung Kwan O area with difficulties highlighted below:

• 4 nos. of land bored piles are within 10m from the MTR Railway Protection Zone (Kwun Tong Line);
• 2 nos. of land bored piles are located at the side of the road approaching East Harbour Crossing Tunnel. These 2 nos. of piles are located on each side of the MTR Kwun Tong Line within the Railway Protection Zone and one traffic lane is required to be closed for lifting operation at restricted hours;
• 10 nos. of marine bored piles are constructed with the support of steel platforms, and utilizing marine barges to transport plant, equipment and concrete materials to the works areas, and the Works is dependent on weather conditions;
• Land bored piles are to be distributed and constructed within the Lam Tin site and it is critical to match the piling works programme with the site formation works. Early planning and close monitoring of the construction Works by the site management team is essential and is a key to successful completion of the Works on time.

Scope of Works

The project consists of the construction of 57 nos. of bored piles of 2.5m diameter and pile caps for construction of 3 nos. domestic blocks, temporary access road and re-provision of a section of the public road. In order to maintain a “Green” environment, tree felling within site must be kept to a minimum.

Scope of Works

• The Site was located adjacent to To Shek Street and Pok Chuen Street, Shui Cheun O, Sha Tin.
• The Project comprise of foundation and pile cap works for 8 blocks of Public Rental Housing Development (PRHD), the associated podium, footbridges and lift tower.
• The Project is made up of Phase 3 and 4 of PRHD in the Shui Chuen O Estate, which comprise of 40 nos. of 2.5m large diameter bored piles and 429 nos. of mini-piles.
• Site formation works and foundation works were required to be built concurrently, and therefore the programme was extremely critical and, strategic planning is essential for construction of the whole project.
• The Site was located on steep sloping ground with more than 50m level difference varying from +53mPD to +106mPD. Therefore, massive temporary structures such as bamboo working platform, concrete block wall and pipe pile platform with soil nail tie-back were constructed to provide site haul road for mobilizing plant and equipment to the Site.
• ELS of over 12,000 m pipe pile length were drilled and installed for construction of pile caps.
• The Project was completed in June 2013.

Tai Kong Po to Tse Uk Tsuen Tunnels - Construction of Diaphragm Walls

Scope of Works

This project is a part of the Express Rail Link – Tai Kong Po to Tse Uk Tsuen. The tunnels used diaphragm wall construction. A pre-stitching technique was adopted to remove underground obstructions and a hydraulic trench cutter was used for excavation. These techniques reduced the vibrations generated from traditional hammering methods and preserved the adjacent natural environment and avoided nuisance to residents.

Scope of Works

The construction of Central-Wan Chai Bypass Tunnel (Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter Section) comprised diaphragm walls, grouting, shear pins, and tie back construction. The site is located at the Ex-Wan Chai Public Cargo Working Area. The construction method adopted the combination of pre-grouting and bentonite slurry technique to stabilize the trench. Based on various underground conditions, the unique properties of slurry were mixed for excavation in order to ensure the diaphragm wall stabilities.
